American Society of Criminology

The American Society of Criminology (ASC) is the largest international criminal society. It was founded in December 1941. Its headquarters are in Columbus, Ohio . The current president (as of 2020) is Sally S. Simpson ( University of Maryland, College Park ).

The aim of the society is to promote the exchange of researchers, teachers and practitioners in a multidisciplinary framework in order to promote criminological science and to serve as a forum for the dissemination of criminological knowledge. ASC members include students, practitioners, and academics from a wide variety of areas of criminal justice and criminology.

The ASC publishes the journals Criminology and Criminology & Public Policy and the newsletter The Criminologist .
