Aminata Sifai Hydara (also Siffai or Siffae ) is a Gambian administrative officer.

Life

Hydara first worked from 1981 at the Department of Community Development and as a manager at the Kanifing Municipal Council . Between 1996 and 2003 and between 2008 and 2014 she was a local councilor for the West Coast Region (WCR). She was also lady councillor for many years (member of the National Women's Council ).

For the parliamentary elections in Gambia in 2012 , she sought to be nominated as a candidate in the Kombo Central constituency for the ruling APRC . However, since Abdou Jarjue was put up as a candidate, she supported the independent candidate Buba Ayi Sanneh , who won the mandate. As a result, there were calls for expulsion from the party.

In May 2014, Yahya Jammeh made her the first woman governor of a region. Following the delayed transfer of power from Jammeh to the newly elected President Adama Barrow , on February 1, 2017, she called on local authorities to support the new president. On February 3, it was announced that she, along with the rest of the governors appointed under Jammeh's administration, had been dismissed.
