  • The Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) ( German  alliance for patriotic reorientation and construction ) is an authoritarian party in Gambia . The party's motto is: English " Unity, Self Reliance, Progress " = " Unity, independence, progress ".

    history

    It was founded in 1996 by the officers who participated in the 1994 military coup . It was formed to support Army Leader Yahya Jammeh in the 1996 election campaign for president.

    Jammeh also won the October 18, 2001 presidential election with 53.0 percent of the vote. In the general election for the National Assembly on January 17, 2002, the party won 45 of 48 seats, 33 of them unopposed. The elections were boycotted by the opposition United Democratic Party .

    After Yahya Jammeh left the Gambia for exile after the 2016 presidential elections and the failure to retain power in January 2017, Fabakary Jatta took over the leadership of the APRC.
