Kairaba Avenue
The Kairaba Avenue is a main street in the West African country Gambia . Her older name Pipeline Road comes from a drinking water - pipeline , which was moved here to colonial times.
description
It is one of the most important traffic arteries in the city of Serrekunda , with just under 350,000 inhabitants by far the largest city in the country. The three and a half kilometer long avenue runs from the coastal town of Fajara , the western district of Bakau, and crosses the Bertil Harding Highway at the Traffic Lights Junction . Further in a south-easterly direction it leads to the center of Serekunda and ends at the traffic junction Westfield Junction .
Numerous shops and companies are located on the paved and broadly built road. For example, Slok Air Gambia , Africell and Gamtel have their offices on this street. The third mobile operator in the Gambia, Comium Mobile , also opened its branch here in May 2007. But also, for example, the strongly secured US American embassy and a shopping center , the so-called Kairaba Shopping Center , are on this street.
In Fajara, the Fajara War Cemetery is located on this street. Further south is the main mosque of Serekunda, the Pipeline Mosque .
