Traffic Lights Junction

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Traffic Lights Junction ( German  traffic lights ), often Traffic Light , is a crossroads in the city of Serekunda in the West African country Gambia .

Two major highways meet at this transportation hub , the busy Kairaba Avenue and the Bertil Harding Highway . The Kairaba Avenue begins in the coastal Fajara , the western district of Bakau ; in a south-easterly direction it leads to the center of Serrekunda. The Bertil Harding Highway runs south-west along the coast.

The intersection is named after the first traffic light system in Gambia, which was installed here in 2000. The project was funded with US $ 30,000 from Shell Marketing Gambia Limited; a Shell petrol station is at the intersection. There are now numerous crossings in the country that are equipped with traffic lights.
