  • The National Convention Party (NCP) ( German  National Assembly Party ) is a center-left - Party in The Gambia . The party's motto is: Latin " Semper fidelis " = " always reliable ".

    history

    It was the largest opposition party between 1975 and 1994 . After the 1994 military coup led by Yahya Jammeh , she was initially banned from voting.

    In the presidential elections on October 18, 2001, their leader, Sheriff Mustapha Dibba , came fourth with 3.9 percent of the vote. In the last parliamentary elections for the National Assembly on January 17, 2002, the party remained without seats.

    After Dibba died, Ebrima Janko Sanyang became the leader of the party.
