Fabakary Jatta

Fabakary Tombong Jatta (born November 16, 1952 in Albreda ) is a politician in the West African state of Gambia .

Life

Jatta attended Armitage Senior Secondary School and Yundum College he trained as a teacher. In Bansang he worked as a teacher.

In the 1997 parliamentary elections , he joined the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) in the constituency of Serekunda East ( Serekunda ). He was able to assert himself against his rival candidates Bakary Mariama Sarjo (UDP) and Halifa Sallah (PDOIS). He was also able to successfully win his constituency in the following parliamentary elections in 2002 and parliamentary elections in 2007 .

In the National Assembly , he has since 2007 (the office of Majority Leader English Majority Leader ) taken.

From 2004 he is also a member of the Pan-African Parliament . In the following legislative period from 2009 he was a member of this Parliament and was on the Education Committee.

After Yahya Jammeh left the Gambia for exile after the 2016 presidential elections and the failure to retain power in January 2017, Jatta took over the leadership of the APRC.
