Foroyaa is a newspaper in the West African state of Gambia . There are three issues a week. The newspaper is based in Serekunda and the acting editor-in-chief is Sam Sarr .

The name comes from the society of Mandinka , Foro in the means Mandinka language , the caste of the freeborn. The newspaper is affiliated with the People's Democratic Organization for Independence and Socialism (PDOIS), and opposition politicians Halifa Sallah and Sidia Jatta are also the editors of the newspaper, which was founded with the party in the mid-1980s. Foroyaa was first registered as a newspaper in 1987 and as a company with shareholders in 2010. There are two issues a week, three three issues. During the reign of Yahya Jammeh (1994-2017) she had an oppositional stance.

Around 2011 Sam Sarr is the managing director . At that time there were 16 permanent employees and a few freelancers.
