Bansang is a town in the West African state of Gambia .
According to a calculation for 2013, there are around 8,535 inhabitants, the result of the last published census from 2003 was 6,966.
geography
Bansang is located on the southern bank of the Gambia River in the Central River Region. District Fulladu West , the largest town in the region, is on the South Bank Road , the Gambia's most important trunk road . The city is approximately 28 kilometers southwest of Janjanbureh and approximately 50 kilometers west of Basse Santa Su .
Economy and Infrastructure

There is a main hospital in Bansang, which provides health care for the entire region. For a long time it was the only hospital next to the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital in the capital Banjul . The facility has its own runway for aircraft.
The International Trypanotolerance Center operates a field station here.
