Kanifing Municipal Council

The Kanifing Municipal Council ( KMC for short ) is the municipal council of the municipality of Kanifing , the municipality of the West African state of Gambia also known as Kombo-St. Mary Area is known. A Lord Mayor presides over the council. Talib Ahmed Bensouda ( United Democratic Party ) has held this position since the regional elections in Gambia in 2018 on May 12, 2018 .

history

Until 1990 the local council was known as Kanifing Urban District Council (KUDC).

The majority of the seats on the city council from the 1990s to 2018 were taken by the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC).
