Amir Levi (born November 1, 1977 ) is an Israeli badminton player . He starts in Parabadminton in the starting class WH2 in singles, doubles and mixed and is preparing for participation in the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo .

Athletic career

Amir Levi was a paratrooper with the Israel Defense Forces . In 1996 he suffered paraplegia in an accident . In Beit Halochem (German: House of Warriors ) in Jerusalem, a state rehabilitation center for veterans, he began with wheelchair tennis and parabadminton .

At the Badminton World Championships for the Disabled in 2005 in Hsinchu , Republic of China , Levi was world champion in singles. In 2006 he was the title winner at the European Badminton Championships for the disabled in La Rinconada, Spain . In 2011 in Guatemala City , Levi won World Cup silver in doubles with Makbal Shefanya . In the individual he won a bronze medal. At the European Badminton Championships for the disabled in Rodez in 2018 , Levi and his partner Nina Gorodetzky won gold in mixed, with a three-set victory over the Russian Konstantin Afinogenow and his Turkish partner Emine Seçkin . In the individual final he was defeated by the Englishman Martin Rooke and won silver. He also reached the final in doubles with the Frenchman David Toupé , but failed because of Rooke and Thomas Wandschneider .
