Amphibious aircraft
An amphibious aircraft is an aircraft that can operate from both water and land. This is achieved through the use of floats or boat hulls for water use, combined with a retractable landing gear for operation on land. Amphibious aircraft can often extend their wheels in the water and then roll ashore over a slipway .
The world's largest amphibious aircraft is the Russian Beriev Be-42 , which first flew in 1986. It has a wingspan of 42 meters and with two jet engines reaches a top speed of 760 km / h.
