Amplicon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In biochemistry, amplicon refers to a DNA sequence or RNA sequence that is duplicated by amplification .

properties

Amplicons are reproduced using various methods, for example by polymerase chain reaction or by ligase chain reaction . The product is called an amplificate. The length is determined by the distance between the primers . With shorter amplicons, the efficiency of the thermostable DNA polymerase used increases , which is why short amplicons are used in the qPCR .
