The administrative district was only separated from the Aurich office in the course of the administrative reform of 1852 and expanded to include the Simonswolde municipality, which had previously belonged to the Emden office . The seat of the administration was Aurich , the superordinate administrative authority was the Landdrostei Aurich . In 1859 the office was canceled and reintegrated into the Aurich office.
