Ana Lucía de la Garza Barroso

Ana Lucía de la Garza Barroso (around 1981/82 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican medical doctor , epidemiologist and specialist in the Ministry of Public Health of Mexico. Since April 2019, she has been director of the operational epidemiological research department of the Mexican Ministry of Health.

Career

Ana Lucía de la Garza Barroso studied medicine with a focus on surgery at the private Universidad Justo Sierra in Mexico City. After graduating, she continued her education with a focus on epidemiology at the School of Medicine (UNAM) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico .

From 2009 to 2019 she worked in the Directorate General for Epidemiology on the drafting of international health regulations. The focus of her work was in the field of public health care . They evaluated numerous outbreak of flu - Zika - and chikungunya - epidemics of. Among other things, she developed standardized procedures in the field of epidemiology in public health administration as part of the master's thesis presented in 2014 .

In 2019 she did her doctorate at the Instituto Nacional de Salud Pública (INSP) with the epidemiologist and State Secretary for Prevention and Health Promotion Hugo López-Gatell Ramírez on data mining in social networks during the Zika and Chikungunya epidemic 2015/2016. Since April 2019 she has been director of the Dirección de Investigación Operativa Epidemiológica in the Mexican Ministry of Health.

Ana Lucía de la Garza Barroso is a member of the panel of 21 specialists in Mexico's epidemiological surveillance system. During the COVID-19 pandemic , she publishes the epidemiological bulletins of the Mexican Ministry of Health and presents them at the regular press conferences .
