An anal prolapse is an incident ( prolapse ) the lining of the anal canal through the anus . In most cases, the cause is a 4th degree hemorrhoidal disease , more rarely, severely swollen anal papillae in the course of an anal fissure .

Diagnosis

It is important to distinguish it from rectal prolapse , in which not only the mucous membrane but all layers of the rectum emerge from the anus. Due to the different appearance of the herniated tissue (radial folds in anal prolapse, circular folds in rectal prolapse), the delimitation does not usually cause any problems.

Since a congestion caused by deep-seated rectal cancer can be the rare cause of anal prolapse, a suitable endoscopic examination ( rectoscopy , colonoscopy ) must be carried out to rule out cancer.

therapy

Persistent anal prolapse is usually treated surgically. The hemorrhoidectomy in diverse ways is drug of choice for treatment when hemorrhoids cause Anaprolaps. For other causes, treatment is given according to the underlying disease.
