Anarion is an Australian power metal band from Melbourne that was formed in 1999.

history

The band was founded in 1999 and initially consisted of the guitarist Michael Vrljic, the bassist Simon D'Alfonso and the guitarist and singer Riccardo Mecchi. In October of the same year, drummer Luke Burnham joined them and completed the line-up. In January, Danny Cecati joined the group as a singer, after which Mecchi concentrated only on playing the guitar. After D'Alfonso and Vrljic left the band in June, they worked for almost a year without a bass player before Chris Binding joined in 2001 as a replacement. Steve Stergiadis joined as guitarist in November 2001. At the beginning of 2001 Cecati left the band so that Mecchi took over the vocals again. In December of the same year, the debut album The Journey Begins was released ... in self- publication . At the beginning of 2002 Erf Khadem took over the bass. In May 2002 Anarion went on tour through Australia with Edguy before Joe Frisina was hired as the new bass player in June 2003. In December 2005, the group signed a contract with the British label Majestic Rock , which in February 2006 released the album Unbroken . The release was followed by a short tour of Japan . Due to personal and musical differences, Stergiadis left the band in May and was replaced by Scott Griffith in October. In 2009 the next album Beneath It All was released .

style

In his review of The Journey Begins… Detlef Dengler from Metal Hammer wrote that the album contained energetic and varied music that was produced rough, clear and lively. The music can roughly be assigned to Power Metal, although a strong Thrash Metal influence can also be heard. The mostly overly long songs are said to be "at a decent pace", although the group also makes use of breaks .
