Anba Gabriel

Anba Gabriel (born April 23, 1959 in Bani Mazar, Gouvernement al-Minya , Egypt ) is the bishop of the diocese for Austria and the German-speaking part of Switzerland of the Coptic Orthodox Church .
Anba Gabriel received her doctorate as a surgeon in 1982 and worked as such for seven years in the Egyptian city of Minia . In 1991 he entered the St. Pischoi Monastery , and in 1995 he was ordained a priest . He went to Europe to look after the Coptic communities in Germany and Switzerland. Since June 17, 2000 he has been the first bishop of the diocese for Austria and German-speaking Switzerland with his seat in Vienna. In 2004 he was enthroned as a diocesan bishop.
