Ancistrura is agenus of locusts from the family of the sickle horror (Phaneropteridae).
features
The pronotum is slightly extended backwards. It is slightly increased in the metazona in the females, but strongly in the males. The species are micropter . The elytra of the males are oblong-oval, those of the females are square-rounded. In the middle of the subgenital plate of the males there is a keel, which is elongated and protrudes over the rear edge of the plate and is curved and pointed proximally. The cerci of the males are long-conical and almost awl-shaped in the apical part. In females, they are conical and the apex is curved inward. The ovipositor is toothed at the apex, a visible depression at the base under the lamella may be present or absent.
Occurrence
The genus occurs in southern Europe.
