The Andalusian braid , also known as the Spanish braid, is a braiding technique with which a horse 's mane can be braided. The braid starts right behind the ears and stops just before the withers . It is braided like a French braid that is only on one side instead of in the middle. A strand is added with every "second" braid. This technique is particularly suitable for horses with thick manes, such as Andalusians or Frisians.

The mane can be woven to the horse for a tournament spruce .
