Andreas Schubert Building

The Andreas-Schubert-Bau (ASB) of the Technical University of Dresden at Zellescher Weg  19 is a listed building for training, which was built from 1956 to 1960 based on designs by Helmut Fischer and Heinz Stoll.

The building, which was erected for the Faculty of Nuclear Technology, which was dissolved in 1962 and named after Andreas Schubert (1808–1870) , houses parts of the fields of physics, biology and psychology.

The building complex consists of a six-story high-rise and a lower, low-rise building, which were constructed using a steel frame construction. The institute building is housed in the building and a lecture hall in the low-rise building. The facade of the building is structured by concrete beams running horizontally and vertically, with a flat roof protruding over the building. The grid facade of the low-rise building shows generous glazing. The entrance to the lecture hall building shows a “typical [s] shell-like [s] canopy”.

The Andreas-Schubert-Bau appears in the DEFA film The Girl from the Elevator from 1990.
