Andreas Mayerhofer

Andreas Mayerhofer (born February 17, 1966 in Krems an der Donau , Austria) is an Austrian jazz pianist .

Life

After studying classical music at the Vienna University of Music from 1984 to 1988 (clarinet and piano), he mainly turned to jazz. There were first ensembles and CD recordings. a. with the Austrian saxophonist Christian Maurer and the Australian guitarist Peter O'Mara . A long-term collaboration with the Romanian saxophonist Nicolas Simion followed . Andreas Mayerhofer leads his own piano trio with the Austro-American bassist Wayne Darling and the drummer Gerald Endstrasser. His connection to European music tradition manifests itself in his project "Dirt Stream" (with Wolfgang Reisinger, among others ).

He played u. a. with Tomasz Stańko , Raul de Souza and Kenny Wheeler .
