Andrew Stimpson

Andrew Stimpson (* 1980 in Largs , Scotland ) is a former British model . He became known as the first documented HIV -infected patient who is believed to have automatically destroyed the causative agent of the mostly fatal immune deficiency. The assumption is based on the fact that no more antibodies were detectable in a later series of tests. Exact information is not available, apart from reports from two British Sunday newspapers.

In August 2002, the Scot was diagnosed with HIV infection. In a new test, which was carried out in October 2003 due to improved health, no more antibodies were found. Stimpson did not receive any medical treatment. Its spontaneous healing is considered an anomaly .

According to media reports, it is impossible that the first positive HIV test produced a false test result. But it is entirely possible that Andrew has a genetic anomaly that prevented the HI virus from docking. Therefore, the disappearance of its HIV antibodies cannot be understood as a cure in the sense that the healing mechanism can be transferred to other HIV-positive people whose genetic architecture does not have this genetic anomaly. However, it cannot be ruled out that the blood examined may have been mixed up during the initial diagnosis.

There are supposed to have been similar cases in Africa , but there was always no evidence.
