Angelė Rupšienė

Angelė Rupšienė , (born Angelė Jankūnaitė , in the Soviet Union also Russian Ангеле Стасиовна Рупшене (Янкунайте) , Angele Stassiowna Rupschene (Jankunaite) ; born June 27, 1952 in Vilnius ) is a former Soviet basketball player.

The 1.68 m tall player from Žalgiris Vilnius won the world championship title with the women’s national basketball team of the USSR in 1971 and the European championship title in 1972. After their marriage, Angelė Rupšienė won her second world title in 1975. At the Olympic premiere of women's basketball in Montreal in 1976 , she and her team won the gold medal. In 1976 and 1978, two more gold medals followed at European Championships. Her last major international success was winning her second Olympic gold medal in Moscow in 1980 .
