Angélica Rivera (born August 2, 1969 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican actress in telenovelas . She was married to the former President Enrique Peña Nieto from 2010 to 2019 and was therefore Primera Dama de México from 2012 to 2018 .

Career

Angélica Rivera played in the telenovelas of the Mexican media group Televisa between 1989 and 2007 . She became known in 2007 through the telenovela Destilando amor , in which she had the lead role and which gave her the nickname the seagull (Spanish La gaviota ).

Personal

From 2004 to 2008 she was married to the Mexican producer José Alberto Castro . They have three children together.

On November 27, 2010, she married Enrique Peña Nieto. On February 9, 2019, she announced that she had filed for divorce. Her purchase of an exclusive property in one of the more affluent neighborhoods in Mexico City led to allegations of corruption in November 2014.
