Angelina Fares

Angelina Fares ( Arabic انجلينا فارس; * March 24, 1989 ) is the first photo model of the Druze faith .

Life

Angelina was born under the name Doaa in the village of Rame in Israel . She is the oldest child in her family and has six siblings. From the age of six she practiced gymnastics . It started for Israel in a worldwide competition in Russia and ended up being tenth of eighty participants. Fares caused great anger among the Druze community when they signed up for the Israeli beauty pageant and reached the final stage. She received death threats for dishonoring her community. Because of these threats, five people, including two of her uncles, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. After those threats and the pressure caused by the religious Druze leadership, she finally withdrew her candidacy for the competition. She later dropped out of high school as well.
