Angelos Anastasiou

Angelos Anastasiou (* 1950 in Greece ) is the head metropolitan of the old calendar Holy Metropolitan Synod of the paternal calendar of the Church of the True Orthodox Church of Greece .

Life

Angelos Anastasiou graduated in Orthodox theology at the University in Athens . In 1975 he was ordained a deacon of the Orthodox Church of Greece , and in 1978 a priest .

In 1986 he joined the Old Calendar Holy Synod in the Resistance and trained at the Center for Traditionalist Orthodox Studies in California. He was ordained Bishop of Thessaloniki in 1996 and Bishop of Avlona in 1997.

In 2002 he joined the old calendar Church of the True Orthodox Christians of Greece (Kallinikos Synod) , where he became Metropolitan of Avlon and Boeotia .

In 2007 he left the church and founded the Holy Metropolitan Synod of the paternal calendar of the Church of the True Christians of Greece , which he has since headed as Metropolitan of Avlona and Boeothia . The church now has parishes on four continents, including the St. Gabriel Monastery in Altenbergen in Thuringia in Germany .
