history

The Church of the True Orthodox Christians of Greece under Metropolitan Kallinikos was formed from the Church of the True Orthodox Christians of Greece (Chrysostomos Synod) in 1995 after it had accused Metropolitan Euphemios of Thessaloniki of uncanonical behavior and published this in the public media. Metropolitan Kallinikos Chaniotis of Phtiotida became chief. Another three metropolitans and a bishop of the Chrysostom Synod joined the new church. Two of them moved to the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople in 1997, the other two returned to the Chrysostom Synod in 1998.

In 2002, Archbishop Angelos von Avlona formed his own synod of the patristic calendar , which has also had a diocese in Germany since 2016.
