Angstrand

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The outermost area of the tread of a motorcycle tire is called a fear strip (or also bacon strips, fear strips, safety strips or in English pussiestrip ) . The width of the strip varies depending on the technical conditions and driving style of the driver: the greater the inclined position , the narrower the fear strip becomes.

Opinions differ as to whether an existing fear strip (or, accordingly, safety strip) has positive or negative consequences for safety when riding a motorcycle.

With modern rear tires with their wide tread and pronounced edge, it is usually quite possible to completely remove the fear strip. With the front tire, however, the fear strip remains even when the HR tread is completely used - due to the different cross-section with rounder edges.

Various tire manufacturers also stamp symbols on the tire on the edge of the tread (in addition to the lettering on the side wall), making it easier to identify the fear of the beach.
