Under Anisette is meant, in particular in France, spice liqueurs with anise aroma that an alcohol having from 25 to 40% by volume.. They are sweeter than most anise-flavored schnapps (such as pastis ), mostly water-clear and are drunk both as an aperitif and as a digestif .
A well-known brand in France is, for example, Marie Brizard with an alcohol content of 25% vol.
