The private brewery Eibau i.Sa. Ltd. is a mainly for their dark beer known brewery in the Oberlausitz . It is located in Eibau in the Görlitz district .

history

The rural brewery in Eibau was founded on the initiative of the Zittau beer citizenship in order to facilitate the supply of the larger, distant villages with Zittau beer. This decision was made as early as 1786, but since the construction was associated with not inconsiderable costs, the rural brewery in Eibau was not set up until 1810 and was granted brewing rights . In the meantime, Ebersbach applied unsuccessfully for the country brewery in 1786 and 1802. Initially, some of the brewing water came from the Beckenbergmüller, 500 meters away, and was fed through wooden pipes to the brewery. This brewery burned down in 1863. Gustav Adolf Theodor Krampf bought the brewery after it was rebuilt. From 1900 to 1907 it produced caramel malt beer (Eibauer Porter with around 2.5% vol. Alcohol), and this is how the brewery experienced its heyday. The vehicle fleet included 21 horses and six oxen. On January 29, 1937, master brewer Hans Münch acquired the brewery in Eibau, which he managed until 1972.

On May 14, 1945, the first brew of beer with twelve percent original wort was brewed by order of the Soviet headquarters. In May 1972 the brewery was expropriated and incorporated into the Landskron brewery in Görlitz. In 1990 the descendants bought the company again and continued to run it in the family business until 2008. After the company was sold in 2010, it was renamed Privatbrauerei Eibau i.Sa.

In 1998 the brewing license of the St. Marienthal Monastery was acquired. The "German Beer" is also brewed, which was originally produced in the Sternburg Brewery Lützschena.

Julia Böhmer is the managing director of the brewery.
