Anja Maria Barbara Baldauf (* 1973 ) is a German musician and teacher for accordion and piano .

biography

Baldauf began her musical training at the age of 4, supported and influenced by her mother Marianne Baldauf and her grandfather Leo Lepschy. In 1986 she received a grant from the German Music Council and won first prize in the state competition " Jugend musiziert ". Until she began her studies at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in 1990, she won further awards, including a. at the German Music Prize and at the national "Jugend Musiziert" competition. With her concert master activity in the State Youth Orchestra of Baden-Württemberg, concert tours a. a. to Brazil, China, Fiji Islands, Namibia, New Zealand, Russia and South Africa. She completed her studies in 1997 with the state music qualification examination , in 1998 she was appointed district conductor of the DHV district of Augsburg-Swabia, and in 2000 she received a conducting scholarship from the German Music Council with Lutz Herbig . With her orchestra she won the Bavarian orchestral championships in 1997, 1999 and 2001 as well as in 2005 at the accordion festival in Castelfidardo, Italy.

Her own band, which is dedicated to Zydeco and Cajun music from the US state of Louisiana, first formed in 2005 under the name Zydeco Groove, but was renamed ZYDECO ANNIE & SWAMP CATS a little later . Several sound carriers and TV broadcasts are making the group increasingly known, and other international commitments follow, among other things. a. in Denmark, Sweden, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Lithuania. In 2013 she started working with the ORCHESTRA MONDO , a formation around the saxophonist Thomas Bouterwek , with pieces from the 1930s and 40s from Italy, France and the USA, in order not to be reduced to just one musical genre and because of the love for tango .

In 1994 she joined Marianne Baldauf's school for accordion, piano and melodica, Anja Baldauf has been a juror at Jugend Musiziert since 1997 and has been a lecturer for accordion at the vocational school for music in Krumbach since 2015.
