The World Music Festival Horizonte is a two-day music event at the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress in Koblenz .

The open air festival was held for the first time in 2003. Artists from all five continents present a mixture of traditional and contemporary music from their respective homeland. Musicians such as B. Calexico , Daniela Mercury , Nigel Kennedy , Jorge Ben Jor and Tinariwen were guests at the world music festival Horizonte. The main aim of the festival is to promote intercultural contacts and to offer artists the opportunity to present their respective cultures.

The forerunner of the world music festival Horizonte was the Blumenhoffestival, which had already focused on world music . Since the onslaught soon exceeded the capacity of the Blumenhof, a more spacious venue was sought. The Horizonte World Music Festival finally celebrated its premiere in 2003 at the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. In 2007 the festival counted 6,000 visitors and in 2011, when the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress was also used for the Koblenz Federal Horticultural Show , around 10,000 visitors.

Since 2011, the fortress has been barrier-free connected to the city by the Ehrenbreitstein inclined elevator and the Koblenz cable car . In 2016, the festival will be extended to three days (July 15-17), as well as a market and culinary offers from several countries. Initially the organizers were the Förderverein Kultur im Café Hahn eV together with Koblenz Touristik, since 2010 the Förderverein has been the sole organizer.
