Anke Scholz

Anke Scholz (born November 25, 1978 in Berlin ) is a former German swimmer . She won an Olympic silver medal in 1996.

Anke Scholz started for SG Coubertin Berlin . At the Junior European Championships in 1992 she won both freestyle relays. In 1993 she won five titles at the European Junior Championships: In addition to the two freestyle relays, she won over both back distances and over 100 meters freestyle. In 1994 she won the title over 200 meters back at the German championships , over 100 meters back she took second place behind Sandra Völker .

At the German Championships in 1996 she took second place over 100 meters back, third place over 200 meters back and fifth place over 200 meters freestyle. At the 1996 Olympic Games , she competed in three competitions. Over 100 meters back she took tenth place, while fourth over 200 meters back narrowly missed a medal. The 4 x 200 meter freestyle relay in the line-up Franziska van Almsick , Kerstin Kielgaß , Anke Scholz and Dagmar Hase took second place, one and a half seconds behind the US relay.

Anke Scholz was able to place herself in German championships until 2001, but she no longer achieved international successes, as Antje Buschschulte, another Berlin back swimmer, was usually well ahead of her.
