Appendix 0704
The 0704 system was a 110 kV three-phase line built in 1952 with two circuits south of Gomaringen . The 0704 system, which consisted of 24 masts (including two guy masts , a terminal mast , a twisting mast and a junction mast ) began at a junction mast on the 110 kV Pfullingen - Reutlingen / West line near the Gomaringer Schleifenmühle and ran over a distance of 5 , 3 kilometers south of Gomaringen to a terminal mast near the Nehren substation .
Most of the time it ran parallel to the 110 kV Metzingen-Nehren line, which was laid on masts of the same construction. In order to be able to establish a connection to this line if necessary, a junction mast was erected south of Gomaringen both in the course of this line and in the course of line 0704, between which a single-circuit 110 kV connection could be established.
Plant 0704 originally served as a reserve exchange line between the energy supply company Energie -versorgung Schwaben (now EnBW ) and Neckarwerke (now also EnBW).
Plant 0704 was shut down at the beginning of the 1980s and could only be put back into working order after carrying out some modifications to its end masts and a guy mast. Short disused overhead lines can be found in the vicinity of substations in order to be able to quickly produce replacement lines in the event of a fault, but it is unusual for a 110 kV overhead line several kilometers long to have existed in an unusable condition for decades.
As the condition of the masts of the 0704 system deteriorated over the years and there was no prospect of future use for this line, it was completely dismantled in 2011. The lowest traverse of the branch mast of the Pfullingen-Reutlingen / West line near the Gomaringer Schleifenmühle, where the line ended, was also removed. The junction mast of the 110 kV Metzingen-Nehren line, via which a single-circuit connection to the 0704 system could be established, is still designed as a junction mast where no lines branch off.
