Annales scientifiques de l'École normal supérieure

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Annales scientifiques de l'École normal supérieure are a mathematical journal of the Société mathématique de France (SMF) and the CNRS . As the name suggests, they are associated with the École normal supérieure (Paris) . Since many of the most important French mathematicians had studied there or at the École Polytechnique , they often published in this journal, which was already highly regarded at the end of the 19th century.

The journal was founded in 1864 by Louis Pasteur and at that time dealt with mathematics as well as physics, chemistry and other natural sciences. Around 1900 it became an exclusive mathematics journal. They were published by Gauthier-Villars until 1998 and by Elsevier from 1999 to 2007. The SMF has been the publisher since 2008. Six issues appear per year.

The ISSN is 0012-9593. According to the impact factor, they were seventh among the mathematics journals from 1981 to 2006.

Older editions of the journal are available free of charge from the digital library Numérisation de documents anciens mathématiques (NUMDAM).
