history

The Heinrich Böll Comprehensive School in Düren in the east of Düren had considerable space problems in the 1980s. Therefore, the former secondary school in Mariaweiler was converted into a branch of this comprehensive school. The branch quickly showed a clear pedagogical profile that met with an unexpectedly high level of acceptance. The school became independent in 1988 and was named after the Jewish girl Anne Frank , who was murdered in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp . As part of a pilot project “School Pastoral Care”, the one-world shop project was started at AFG in 1991 .
