Anne J. Kox

Anne Jacob Kox , mostly quoted AJ Kox, (born July 21, 1948 ) is a Dutch historian of science.

Life

He studied theoretical physics at the University of Amsterdam , where he received his doctorate in 1976. The dissertation received the Winkler Prins Prijs in 1978. He later turned to the history of physics and is Pieter Zeeman Professor of History of Physics at the University of Amsterdam (retired in 2013).

Kox dealt with the history of physics particularly in the Netherlands. He is editor of Hendrik Antoon Lorentz's academic correspondence and published his biography in October 2019. In addition, since 1985 he has worked for the Einstein Papers Project , which publishes Albert Einstein's collected works . In this context he is currently visiting researcher at Caltech .

In 2000 he became a Fellow of the American Physical Society . In 2002 he organized the 6th International Conference on the History of General Relativity in Amsterdam. In 2012 he became a corresponding member of the Académie internationale d'histoire des sciences . In 2014 he was awarded the Order of Orange-Nassau . In 2016 he was elected a member of the Academia Europaea .
