Ansar al-Sharia
Ansar al-Sharia ( Arabic أنصار الشريعة, DMG Anṣār aš-Šarīʿa , follower of Islamic law ') is the name of various Islamist organizations in the Middle East and North Africa with ideological and personal proximity to al-Qaida, which arose in the course of the Arab Spring.
- Ansar al-Sharia (Egypt) : one since July 2012, one since July 2013,
- Ansar al-Sharia (Libya) : Libyan militia split off from the February 17 Martyrs Brigade in the summer of 2011, blamed for the attack on the American consulate in Benghazi on September 11, 2012; as well as one other organization (Derna, 2011–2012)
- Ansar al-Sharia (Mali) : since December 2012
- Ansar al-Sharia (Morocco) : September to the end of October / beginning of November 2012
- Ansar al-Sharia (Mauritania) : since June 2013
- Ansar al-Sharia (Pakistan) : in Karachi since 2017
- Ansar al-Sharia (Syria) : in Aleppo since 2015
- Ansar al-Sharia (Tunisia) , a Salafist organization founded in April 2011, classified as a terrorist organization by the Tunisian government in August 2013
- Ansar al-Sharia (Yemen) since April 2011 an alias of al-Qaeda operating in Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP)
as well as other, small groups with this name.
