Attack in Mogadishu on December 28, 2019
In the Mogadishu attack on December 28, 2019 , at least 83 people were killed when a car bomb detonated at a busy checkpoint in the Somali capital. The radical Islamist terrorist militia al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack . The target of the attack were two Turkish engineers and their bodyguards.
In response to the attack, US drone strikes in Qunyo Barrow and Caliyoow Barrow on December 30 killed four terrorists.
