The connecting railway Baustoffwerke Radeburg connected several companies with the narrow-gauge railway Radebeul Ost – Radeburg .

history

The company Moritz Mitscherling and argillaceous and fireclay works Strack & Janckwitz existed before the construction of the radebeul-radeburg railway. Because of their remote location, however, they initially had no siding. The products had to be transported to Radeburg train station in horse and ox carts and reloaded there. Moritz Mitscherling finally built the 2.30-kilometer-long connecting line in 1901 at its own expense. Branch tracks led to the neighboring company Strack & Janckwitz as well as to the municipal gas works in Radeburg and to the Dresden fertilizer export company.

After the Second World War, the two chamotte factories operated as VEB Baustoffwerke, Werk I (formerly Strack & Janckwitz) and II (formerly Moritz Mitscherling). Until mid-1990, the connecting line was used once a day. On May 31, 1991, the regular connection operation officially ended with the cessation of freight traffic. On December 12, 1991, the track was operated for the last time with a freight train journey. A museum re-use by the Traditionsbahn Radebeul e. V. failed because of the high fees for the branch point in the main track. The branch switch was expanded on September 27, 1993.

Route description

After the branch from the narrow-gauge route to Radebeul Ost, the route ran along the industrial development of the gas works and then crossed Berbisdorfer Strasse, which was secured with St. Andrew's crosses. Then the train led along the northern flank of the Börnsbach valley. At kilometer 0.55, the route changed to the southern side of the valley and swiveled to a farm road, on the southern side of which it ran parallel to the fork. The fork point had a Saxon throw lever switch . In a straight line, the tracks continued parallel to the path to Plant II. The track to Plant I branched off to the right and crossed the path as a paved level crossing. After a passage and a left arch, Plant I was reached.

Operational flow

The shunting trips from Radeburg train station to the loading points of plants I and II were pushed. The trips in the direction of Radeburg train station were pulled.
