ANTEL
ANTEL (Administración Nacional de Telecomunicaciones) is a state-owned telecommunications company based in Montevideo , Uruguay .
ANTEL was founded in 1974. The telecommunications network was liberalized in 2001; only domestic long-distance calls remain under the state monopoly. The company is also present in the mobile phone and internet market. It is the market leader in both in Uruguay.
The tallest building in Uruguay, the Torre Antel , belongs to the company. It is 160 m high and has 35 floors.
