License

The V. Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel have been assigned their own radio frequency by the State Agency for Media North Rhine-Westphalia (LfM); the corresponding license (broadcast license) was initially granted for four years and has since been extended. The association Klinikprogramme für Bielefeld eV and the v. Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel jointly design the program. A corresponding cooperation agreement was signed between the association and the Bethel Foundation for cooperation.

history

With Antenne Bethel there has been a facility radio for a town for the first time in the German radio landscape since November 4, 2000. The State Broadcasting Corporation of North Rhine-Westphalia provided significant support and funding for the preparatory work for this pilot project, and it is also accompanying the simulcast test operation in Eckardtsheim.

The earlier successful work of the Krankenhausfunk Bielefeld e. V. (today: Clinic Programs for Bielefeld eV) in Bethel was continued, but received a new technical and content basis. Previously, the hospital radio program could only be received via cable in some Betheler clinics. The broadcasts from Antenne Bethel can now be received by every resident of the village of Bethel via antenna on the radio. The range of programs was expanded from the weekend to the whole week. The state media law requires the broadcasting area to be restricted to the towns of Bethel and Eckardtsheim and a content-related restriction to topics that are related to the facilities of the v. Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel.

program

The program is carried out with volunteers from the Clinic Programs Association for Bielefeld e. V., residents of Bethel and other interested parties. Particularly people with disabilities are included. An information magazine is broadcast on weekdays from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with usually two main topics (interview, built article, report), news and event information from the towns of Bethel and Eckardtsheim. Although the broadcast studio on Quellenhofweg also allows self-driving moderation, double moderation is often used, accompanied by a technician. The magazine is repeated on the following working day from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Special events (e.g. Bielefeld "Museum Night", Bethel athletics, local assembly) are accompanied by special broadcasts. At the weekend, a program on Saturday summarizes the highlights of the week, on Sunday the service is usually broadcast from the Zionskirche in Bethel at 10 a.m. During the rest of the time, a PC-controlled music program (mAirList) is broadcast which also only contains station IDs or program information.

Studio

The studio rooms on the ground floor of Dankort at Quellenhofweg 25 are accessible at ground level, are handicapped accessible and have been extensively modernized since 2012. In essence, they consist of the modified former broadcasting studio of Radio Bielefeld (moderation while seated with headsets, suitable for wheelchairs) with the digital mixer DHD RM 3200, which has been completely reprogrammed. Transmitting and receiving antennas for a report transmitter and a return channel are installed on the roof of the Dankort.

A small high-speed report vehicle ("OB van") is available for live reporting, with which broadcasts can be made to the studio via ISDN or CELP codec, LTE connection or with a report transmitter (Sennheiser SER 20).
