Antistia Politta

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Antistia Politta († around 66 in Rome ) was the daughter of the Roman politician and consul of the year 55, Lucius Antistius Vetus . She was married to Rubellius Plautus , a great-grandson of Tiberius . Nero saw Rubellius, a close relative, as a threat to his rule and banished him to the province of Asia in 60 AD . 62 AD he had him murdered. Antistia mourned desperately. She returned to Rome, where she blamed Nero for her husband's death. She and her father, who had also fallen from grace, probably committed suicide in AD 66.
