Antoin Miliordos

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Antoin Miliordos , also known as Antonios Miliordos (Greek Αντώνηος Μιλιορδος, born April 13, 1924 ) is a former Greek alpine ski racer.

Career

Miliordos represented his country at the 1952 Olympic Winter Games in Oslo , where he competed in slalom and downhill .

In addition to Miliordos, Angelos Lembesi and Alexandros Vouxinos , two other Greeks took part in the downhill race. Just like Lembesi, however, Miliordos could not reach the goal and was disqualified. Only Vouxinos was able to place, but was knocked off last.

In the first run of the slalom, Miliordos caused a curiosity. He suffered 18 falls on the 422.5 meter long course. In the meantime he sat down in the snow, frustrated, and finally passed the goal backwards. He needed 2: 26.9 minutes for his run and thus almost 27 seconds longer than the Olympic champion Othmar Schneider needed for both runs together. Its average speed of 10.19 km / h is the slowest in the history of Olympic slalom.

Since the organizer had decided to only let the best participants of the first run go one more time in order to spare the slope for the women's race, which was to take place the next day, Miliordos was eliminated in 79th place.
