Antoine de Léris

Antoine de Léris (born February 8, 1723 in Mont-Louis , † 1795 ) was a French writer and theater historian .

De Léris published his main work Dictionnaire portatif des theátres in 1754 , the second edition of which appeared in 1763 under the title Dictionnaire portatif historique et littéraire des théatres . It is an important source for the history of the Parisian theater of this time. a. contains a chronology of theater and opera performances and portraits of actors and singers. The work was reprinted in 1970.

In 1853 he published his work La Géographie rendue aisée (La Géographie rendue aisée, ou Traité méthodique pour apprendre la géographie, rangé dans un ordre nouveau, propre à faciliter l'étude de cette science, avec un abrégé de la sphère et une table très ample en forme de dictionnaire). He is also a co-author of Antoine-Jacques Labbet's Sentiment d'un harmoniphile sur différents ouvrages de musique (1756), the reprint of which appeared in 1972 and emerged as a libretto author .
