Anton Schmidkunz

Anton Schmidkunz (born January 3, 1963 ) is a former German professional footballer.

career

Schmidkunz played in his youth at TSV 1860 Munich and was appointed to the junior national teams of the DFB . Here he was one of the permanent staff and was able to achieve great success. Under the direction of trainer Dietrich Weise , Anton Schmidkunz belonged to the extremely successful German junior class, which in 1981 won both the U-18 European Championship and the U-20 World Championship. In the 1981/82 season Schmidkunz received a professional contract with 1860 Munich, who had just been relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga. He was able to book numerous appearances and was signed by the first division club Fortuna Düsseldorf the following year . However, the talented Schmidkunz could not assert himself at Fortuna, did not get beyond the role of reservist and only made seven missions in two years. After the 1984/85 season, the contract was not extended. Schmidkunz then returned to Munich, to TSV 1860, and from then on played third class in the Bayern League .
