Antonio Adamini (born December 25, 1792 in Agra (Bigogno district), Ticino (CH); † 1846 or 1847 in St. Petersburg ) was a Russian architect and engineer who made a name for himself primarily through the technically difficult construction of monuments Has.
Life
Little is known about Adamini's education; in any case, in 1818 he was appointed to the court of the Russian tsar together with his cousin Domenico Adamini. After a further career in administration, in 1836 he became an architect of the court directorship and the senior architect of the state bank. The important structural engineering achievement of this architect consists in the erection of the 25 m high monument for Tsar Alexander , a monolithic granite column in the year 1834, in front of the Winter Palace . The logistical preparation of this project took four years.
