Antonio Prohías

Antonio Prohías (born January 17, 1921 , † February 24, 1998 ) was a Cuban- American cartoonist .

His best-known work is the series Spion & Spion , which has been published in MAD magazine since 1961 . Before escaping to the United States in 1960, he was a noted Cuban political cartoonist and president of the Association of Cuban Cartoonists . Prohias retired in 1990, but Spion & Spion - now drawn by Peter Kuper - still appear in MAD with a mention of him in Morse code . He died of cancer.
