Coin: Kamnaskires and Anzaze

Anzaze was a queen of the Elymais . She appears together with Kamnaskires III. (ruled around 82/81 to around 75 BC) on his coins and was probably his wife. The coins bear the legend ΒΑCΙΛЄΩC ΚΑΜΝΑCΚΙΡΟΥ ΒΑCΙΛΙCCΗC ΑΝΖΑΖΗC ( ancient Greek βασιλέως Καμνασκιρου βασιλίσσης Ἀνζαζης 'of King Kamnaskires, Queen Anzaze' ).

The representation of a king with his wife is otherwise only rarely documented on coins (except for the Egyptian Ptolemaic Empire ). Anzaze may therefore have been her husband's co-regent.
